About the Company
We started in 1989 hauling paper.
Back then the name on the truck was Pacific NW Recycling, and the business was recycling first, security second. Customers kept asking the same question. Can you make sure nobody reads this before it gets pulped? Enough of them asked that the answer became the company.
We incorporated formally in 2003 under the name we use now. Same founder. Same family. Same city.
More than 35 years later we serve over 600 client-customers across King, Snohomish, and Pierce counties, and we have never had a security incident. Not one.
A local, independent, family-run business
We are minority-owned, family-run, and independent. Nobody bought us. There is no regional manager in another state deciding how Seattle routes get staffed.
That has practical consequences you notice as a customer.
Our drivers stay on their routes, so you see the same person rather than whoever the dispatcher had free. One of the most common reasons a business calls us is that their previous provider sent someone different every visit, and they got tired of explaining the job from scratch each time. When you are handing over confidential records, a familiar face is not a small thing.
Being small and local also opened doors that work differently for national outfits. We hold contracts with city departments, county offices, state and federal agencies, colleges, and public health organizations throughout western Washington. Some of our customers have been with us since the Pacific NW Recycling days.
What we actually believe about this work
Most shredding companies sell a pickup. We think that undersells the problem.
Our view is that the customer should understand their own compliance obligation well enough to check our work. In our words: we educate and drive the customer to fulfill their regulatory compliance by providing them with the tools and knowledge necessary to understand and execute the destruction process from beginning to end.
That is why we train your staff at no charge. It takes about an hour. It heads off the two mistakes we see constantly: confidential paper going into the regular recycling, and files stacked on top of a locked container instead of inside it.
Should a vendor be teaching you how to hold them accountable? We think so. A customer who knows what NAID AAA requires is a customer who can tell whether we are doing it.

How we protect your material
Trust is easy to claim, so here is what backs it.
Every driver clears a seven-year background check and drug screening before their first route. We carry $2 million in liability coverage. Your material stays in NAID member custody from pickup through destruction, with no warehouse stop and no third-party handoff in the middle.
Paper is cut to OEM specification, 5/8 inch cutter width or less. You can watch the destruction happen through the viewing cameras on our trucks, and we would rather you did. A company that shreds behind a closed door is asking you to take its word for something you could simply look at.

Everything we collect is recycled. One hundred percent. The recycling side of the business is where we started, and we never stopped doing it.
No surprises, including on the invoice
We quote flat rates upfront. No hidden charges, and no tax passed to you, because the material is recycled rather than dumped.
